Tatou-gami made of washi, handmade Japanese paper. Tatou-gami is a piece of paper originally for wrapping kimono, sometimes painted with kaki-shibu (persimmon tannin) to protect from insects and moisture. Very rare and unusual item. The insteps are made of rice straw, The soles are hemp rope studded with nails, the inner soles have thin hairy animal skin and cotton velvet straps.
