Katakuchi bowl is originally made for pouring sake or other liquid from a spout made in one side. This one is a nice variation of katakuchi by Sakakura Shinbei 14th (born in 1926). Hagi ware is produced in Hagi in Yamaguchi prefecture. In excellent condition with a signed box. Originally there were set of ten, however five now. Mid Showa era (ca. 1950s~1960s). This hana-ire has beautiful yo-hen ( discoloration of ceramic ware ). Bizen ware has a history of one thousand years and its feature is that it is burnt long time without glaze with high-heat, so that it causes natural and attractive discoloration in a kiln.
