Unlined meisen kimono made in 1930s, in early Showa. The technique is hogushi-kasuri which is warp kasuri (ikat). The warps are roughly woven with temporary wefts and then stencil-dyed. The temporary wefts are removed while the real plain wefts are woven. The motifs are irises and streams. In excellent condition. 126cm x 147cm

The technique called "mage-mono or mage-wappa" is bending thin wood board such as Japanese cedar or Japanese cypress and bound with bark strips of the cherry tree or bamboo.
