This is a akaso kasuri kimono handwoven of asa ( hemp ). It is one kind of Yamato kasuri which was woven in Nara prefecture. The kasuri threads are dyed with "itajime ( board-clamped ) technique. This is a fukusa made of silk satin with embroideries of a crane and a turtle which are auspicious motifs. Fukusa is a gift cover used in the formal occasion. It has benibana ( safflower ) dyed silk crepe lining. It has wear in the ground satin cloth, wear in the embroideries and some of the embroidery threads are loose. This is a dochugi, a coat which was worn over kimono when one went out. It is made of cotton cloth handwoven of "moku-shi" which are threads twined with plural color threads together. One is white and the other is indigo dyed. It has wool flannel collar and buttons and cords made of silk threads. It has slits in the left side for a sword. In good condition except for a few stains and rifts in the piping cloth of the slits. The former half of the 19th century. 133cm x 79.5cm

This is a yosegire juban ( under kimono ) made of several kinds of soft silk crepe with figured pattern, with katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) and with figured silk with katazome. Those are silk crepe with katazome ( stencil-dyeing ), with shibori ( tie-dyeing ), figured silk crepe woven of yama-mayu ( wild silk ) and all dyed with vegetable dye such as benibana ( safflower ), natural indigo etc. In excellent condition.
