This is a han-bakama worn at the Kyogen which is the comical play performed together with the no drama but it is sometimes performed alone. This han-bakama is made of asa ( hemp ) with various round crests which is called "Kyogen-mon" and mostly they symbolize treasures. This is a small box called "tsuzura" for containing small items. It is handwoven of fine bamboo strips and has beautiful Japanese paper with gold and silver foil for the lining. It has some cut, rips and many damages in the lining. 19th or early 20th century. 23cm x 31cm x 4.5cm

This is a bamboo flower basket handwoven of bamboo strips and the base part is made of twigs. In good condition except for some tiny holes in the bamboo container, but no leaking of water as the copper is plated. Late 19th to early 20th century. H: 40cm L: 32cm W: 24cm

This is a small bamboo box hand-woven of bamboo strips. It has two different weaving in the lid. In good condition except for a few rifts and a hole. The latter half of the 19th century. 20cm x 28cm x 6.5cm

This is a bamboo basket for flower arrangement ( ike-bana ) whose motif is gourd. It is hand-made of bamboo strips and wood. It has several minor cuts of bamboo strips, but they are not very noticeable. Late 19th to early 20th century. Height: 35cm Width:40cm

This is a basket woven of thin cane strips. In good condition except for cane strips being loose around the handles. It has silk cloth attached inside. Meiji period ( 1868~1912 ) Size of the bottom: 13cm x 30cm 5.1" x 11.8" Height 6.9"

These are rather casual urushi wooden plates compared with fancy gold-lacquered ones. In nicely simple shape. In excellent condition, however not as smooth and shiny as fancy lacquer wares. Meiji era. Diameter 16cm 6" Height 1.7cm 1"

This is a beautiful ornament for a Buddhist temple which is made of thick silk cords. The technique is called "kazari-himo ( plaited cord ). It has some rifts and the top round part of one of the tassels is mended. Late Meiji or Taisho period ( ca. 1900s~1920s ). 17cm x 176cm 6.7" x 69" ( whole length when it is straight )
