This is maku or a shroud with Rokumonsen ( Rokurensen ) crest which is known as Sanada family's crest. Sanada Yukimura was one of the famous samurais in 16th century. The usage is not clear but it was used outdoor and has many stains in the white parts, however it is washed. It is made of thick cotton and sewn by machine. Late 19th century. 6m32cm x 144cm

This is a fukusa, the gift cover. Fukusa is used to cover or to wrap a gift. It has gorgeous embroidery whose motifs are pheonix and paulownia. The ground silk crêpe is dyed with benibana ( safflower ) and silk threads are all dyed with vegetable dye. The last photo shows the examples of the usage. It has some moth holes and wear on the hems. Late Edo period ( mid 18th to mid 19th century ) 58cm x 61cm

This is a pilgrim's coat made of thick cotton. It has some stamps of holy places where the pilgrim had visited as well as Sanscrit letters and a beautiful stamped image of Fudo ( Cetaka ) in the back. One can read kanji letters "Omine-san" which is one of the mountains between Wakayama and Nara prefecture where "shugen-sha ( holy man )" has been practicing Shugendo. The area was designated as "World Heritage"...
