This is a kimono made of bashofu ( banana fiber cloth ) which was made in Ryukyu Islands ( now Okinawa ). Bashofu is handwoven of fibers taken from Ryukyu basho ( one kind of banana tree ). It is said that bashofu had been commonly worn by people in Ryukyu from 15th or 16th century. Bashofu has thick and bulky texture. The former half of the 20th century. This is a snow hat ( yukibotch in dialect ) which is made of weed fiber. It is made in Nihonkai seaside in Tohoku where they have much snow in winter. Generally in good condition except for some fringes are lost. The former half of the 20th century. 40cm x 56cm

This is a woman's unlined summer kimono which is made of silk ro ( weft gauze ) with geometric yabane ( plum ) pattern. It looks kasuri ( ikat ) pattern, but it is katazome ( stencil-dyeing ). In good condition except for slightly color changed parts and tiny spots ( not very noticeable ). 1920s to 1930s. 128cm x 148cm

This is a nobori ( vertical banner ) which is made of hand-spun thick cotton. It has a crest and hand-drawn wave design. In good condition. The latter half of the 19th century. 33.5cm x 2m57cm

This is a lithograph print by Morita Kohei ( 1916~1994 ) who was a Japanese style painter and studied under Yasuda Yukihiko. It is titled "Sakura-fubuki ( petals of the cherry blossoms are blowing in the wind )". His works are known that they got subjects from old stories and histories. It is 74th of the 100 prints. This is a gorgeous fukuro obi ( sash for a formal kimono ) with beautiful embroidery on gold brocade. It is hard to find such a prominent embroidery these days. The former half of the 20th century. In good condition except for some gold threads are lost or loose. 30cm x 3m98cm

This is a pair of mittens made of handwoven and natural indigo dyed cotton and has sashiko ( quilting ). It has strangely three divided parts for fingers and it can be seen among fireman's mittens. In excellent condition and looks unused. The former half of the 20th century. L:28cm W:12cm
