This is a silk crepe juban (under kimono) with beautiful janome-gasa motif. Janome-gasa is the Japanese umbrella made of bamboo and Japanese paper coated with persimmon juice and "janome" means snake's eye. The collar is made of plain weave cotton cloth. Generally in good condition but it has some color bleeding parts in front. Early to mid 20th century. 128cm x 135cm

This is a silk meisen Haori which is heiyo-gasuri. As for the heiyo-gasuri, warps and wefts are stencil printed separately and then machine-woven. Heiyo-gasuri made it possible to make more vivid, colorful and free design. It has reddish brown flowers with gray and yellow in beige ground. It has silk lining with beautiful stencil-printed flowers pattern and hand-braided cords in front. In excellent condition. Mid 20th century. 128cm x 78cm

This is a silk meisen kimono which is yokoso-kasuri. As for the yokoso-kasuri, wefts are hand-tied, stencil printed or board-clamp dyed and then machine-woven. The warps of this kimono are green and red threads. It has colorful geometric design with roses ( or camellia? ). In good condition except for a few moth holes near the wrist in one of the front sleeves and the white cotton lining has sparse light spots. Mid 20th century. 124cm x 143.5cm

This is a cotton hanten ( short jacket ) with the company's mark in the back. It has the company's name in front reads as "Osaka Yogyo Semento Kabushiki Kaisha ( Osaka Ceramic & Cement Corporation )". The lion mark in the back and letters in front are katazome ( stencil-dyeing ). It is sewn by machine. It looks cotton or mix with asa ( linen ). In excellent condition except for some whitish stains in the back. The former half of the 20th century. 120.5cm x 85cm

This is a woman's unlined summer kimono which is made of silk ro ( weft gauze ) with geometric yabane ( plum ) pattern. It looks kasuri ( ikat ) pattern, but it is katazome ( stencil-dyeing ). In good condition except for slightly color changed parts and tiny spots ( not very noticeable ). 1920s to 1930s. 128cm x 148cm

This is a momohiki ( pants ) remade from old Ojiya chijimi kimono. Ojiya chijimi is a fabric which has been woven in Ojiya region in Niigata prefecture. The wefts and warps are hand-plied asa ( hemp ) and has shrinkage. Sewn by machine. Early 20th century. In excellent condition. Length:95cm

This is a woman's lined kimono which is made of soft silk crepe with geometric pattern. The modern pattern kimono are often seen among kimonos made between 1920s and 1930s. The katazome dye was done over the original ground ( re-dyed ) that was often practiced as recycling. One can see the original dot pattern. In good condition but has some dirt in the neck and other parts. 1920s to 1930s. 126cm x 141cm

These are three pieces of cloth which are hand-spun cotton with katazome ( stencil-dyeing ). They are used ones and probably summer futon cloth. They have a few mending patches for each one. Early to mid 20th century. 34cm x 182cm each.

This is a girl's unlined cotton kimono ( yukata ) with katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) gold fish motif. It has some sparkled stains. Mid 20th century. 112cm x 129cm
