This is a beautiful and gorgeous silk crepe kimono. It is a young woman's formal kimono ( furisode ). It was worn in summer and has no lining. It has traditional summer motifs which are hand painted, such as maple leaves, streams and pink fringes. Some kinds of techniques are used such as embroidery with gold and silver threads and pressed gold and silver leaves. In good condition except for some stains. This is a sakabukuro with mending stitches. Sakabukuro was used in the process of making sake ( or soy sauce ) to drip sake ( or soy sauce ) from sakabukuro which fermented rice or ( soy beans ) was put in. Taisho or Showa period ( ca 1920s~1930s ).

This is a cotton sodenashi ( vest ) with beautiful and rare geometric patterned sashiko ( quilting ). In good condition except for two rips one in the shoulder and the other near the hem. Taisho or early Showa period ( ca. 1920s~1940s ). 60.5cm x 75cm 23.8" x 29.5"

This is a cute baby's cotton katazome ( stencil-resist-dyeing ) han-juban ( short under kimono ) with rare umbrella pattern. It is dyed with natural indigo. In excellent condition. Late Meiji or Taisho period ( ca 1900s~1920s ). 35.5cm x 50cm 14" x 20"

This is a silk obi ( sash ) with lively dragon design. It is one layer obi and has no lining. In excellent condition. Taisho or early Showa period ( 1920s~1930s ). 30.5cm x 4m24cm 12" x 14ft

This is a man's juban ( under kimono ) which is made of silk crepe. The scenery of steep Mt. Hakone and travelers are depicted with katazome ( stencil-resist-dyeing ) and the motif seems to be taken from famous Ando Hiroshige's ukiyo-e ( wood block print ), titled "Tokaido 53 post stations". Early Showa period ( 1920s~1940s ). In good condition except for several stains ( 2cm x 2cm ~ 0.5cm x 0.5cm ).

This is a man's juban ( under kimono ) which is made of soft high quality silk. Mt Fuji which is a symbol of Japanese scenery is depicted with shibori ( tie-dyeing ) and a mountain hermit and a fall are hand painted in the cloud. In good condition. Early Showa period ( 1920s~1940s ). 50"2/4 x 48"

This is an extraordinary silk haori with bold design of maple leaves and square paper. In excellent condition except for some stains ( not very noticeable ) and both sleeves in front have jointing seams. Taisho or early Showa period ( 1920s~1930s ). 126cm x 97cm 50" x 38"

This is a Echigo jofu woman's kimono. Echigo is an old name for Niigata prefecture which is located in the middle of Honshu, Japan Sea side. Jofu is a fabric woven of hand-plied choma (ramie) threads and handwoven. It has beautiful kasuri pattern which looks very similar to Okinawan kasuri pattern. In excellent condition except for a stain ( see the last photo ). Late 19th early 20th century. 125cm x 157cm 49" x 62"

This is a silk crepe summer kimono with beautiful autumn flowers such as balloon flowers, fringed pinks, chrysanthemums and Japanese bush flowers which are hand painted. The fabric is soft and high quality silk crepe. In good condition except for some patinas and color changes and a small stain in the collar.
