Japanese Antique Ceramic Kenzan Style Bowls For Sweets
This is a pair of Kenzan style bowl with handle for sweets. They have hand-painted pictures of bamboos covered with snow. Ogata Kenzan ( 1663~1743 ) was a potter as well as a Rinpa school painter. He was a younger brother of Ogata Korin who was a prominent painter and a founder of Rinpa school painting. They collaborated in some of potteries. Kenzan style potteries have been made in large number till these days, however this pair is rather old, made in Bunsei in Edo period ( early 19th century ). It has an original box with the date it was acquired ( Bunsei ) in the back of the lid. Diameter:14cm Height:15cm
