| This is a sakiori rug or futon. Sakiori is the recycled textile woven of strips for wefts which are torn from used cotton or silk cloth and cotton or asa ( hemp ) threads for warps. Sakiori has been woven mainly in the cold regions such as Tohoku and Japan Sea side. This one is woven of cotton strips for wefts and cotton threads for warps. It has beautiful mixed colors of indigo and others. It has many mending patches and loose wefts. Late 19th or early 20th century. 134cm x 130cm | |||||||||||||||
