| This is a boro noragi hanten (farm coat) made of hand-spun cotton and has many mending patches which are all natural indigo dyed. It is from Niigata prefecture on the Japan Sea side where the severe cold weather made it difficult for cotton to be cultivated and it is so in Tohoku district. The feature of this boro noragi is that it has beautiful sashiko in the top of the body. Late 19th to mid 20th century. 125cm x 82cm | |||||||||||||
