This is a cotton woman's kimono with bold shibori pattern. It is made of hand-spun cotton and dyed with natural indigo. The shibori was made in Asamai or Yokote in Akita prefecture in Tohoku district, where shibori textiles were produced between late Edo and early Meiji ( mid to late 19th century ), however the production declined later. This kimono has the tenugui (cotton towel) lining with the motif of "kutsuwa" which is one of the horse harnesses. The latter half of the 19th century. Used but generally in good condition except for wear in the neck. 126cm x 129cm
