Kappa made of cotton kasuri on one side and cotton stripe on the other which are hand-spun and natural indigo dyed. It is called "maru-gappa" or "hiki-mawashi". It was worn in case of travel. The word "kappa" came from Portuguese "capa". The Portuguese first came to Japan ca. 17th century. In good condition except for some mending patches. 19th century. L:112cm Diameter when extended:2m40cm
