Wooden hand-carved tray made in Hidaka-cho, Saru-gun in Hokkaido which has been one of the large colony of the Ainu people. They are indigenous people mostly lived in Hokkaido. This tray has beautiful geometric Ainu pattern. It has hand-carved letters in the back, "Hidaka, Hiratori, Nibudani Folk Art" which tells this tray was made there by Ainu folk crafstman, probably around early to mid 20th century. In excellent condition except for a tiny chip in the lower rim. W:56cm H:26cm
