Boro tsutsugaki cloth with hand-drawn 'baku' motif, which is an ancient Chinese imaginary animal and believed to eat nightmare. It was futonji or furoshiki and made into noren (curtain). It is hand-spun cotton dyed with natural indigo. It has many mending patches, holes and some seams are machine sewn. 19th century. 108cm x 112cm
