| This is a "bandori" which is a pad for back packing. Bandori was made in Shonai region in Yamagata and a part of Niigata prefecture in north-east district in Japan. Some of them were especially decorated beautifully for the ceremonial occasions, such as weddings to carry trousseaux. This one is made of rice straws and cotton shreds. In excellent condition.
