This is a square bag made of hexagonal fragments of silk kimono which are made in late Edo and early Meiji period ( ca. mid to late 19th C ). The pieces of cloth are silk satin, silk crepe with katazome ( stencil-dyeing ), brocaded taffeta and so on. The lining is cotton. In excellent condition except for a few holes. Size of the bottom 27.5 x 29cm 10.8" Depth 28.5cm 11.2"
