| This is a piece of Narumi-kongata cloth. Narumi-kongata is katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) which looks like shibori ( tie-dyeing ). Shibori textile has been produced in Arimatsu Narumi region in Aichi prefecture since 17th century. Compared with time-consuming shibori textile, Narumi-kongata textile can be produced more amount in same pattern. It is made of hand-woven cotton and dyed with natural indigo. In good condition except for two mending patches ( 3cm x 3cm, 4cm x 5cm ) Meiji period ( 1868~1912 ) 31cm x 76cm 12.2" x 30" | ||||||||||
