Japanese Antique Textile Jishiro Katazome Han-juban
This is a jishiro ( white ground ) katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) which is made of hand-spun and hand-woven cotton. It is dyed with natural indigo. The diagonal lines look like shibori technique, however it is katazome and small pattern in the sleeves is also katazome. In good condition except for a rip in the hem, a gray stain in the sleeve, a few small holes and some patina. Meiji period ( 1868~1912 ) 119cm x 58.5cm 46.9" x 23"
