Japanese Antique Textile Cotton Furoshiki Indigo & Gray
This is a furoshiki ( wrapping cloth ) made of hand-spun cotton and dyed with natural indigo. It has rare diagonal curved line and young pine trees by tsutsugaki and origami cranes by katazome ( stencil dyeing ). Tsutsugaki is free-hand painting using rice paste as resist. In good condition except for some small holes and two mending patches ( 9cm x 10cm, 6cm x 6cm ) Mid to late 19th century. 102cm x 116cm 40" x 45.7"
