| This is a nobori ( a vertical banner ) with "oni" ( ogre, one kind of Japanese monsters ) which is hand-painted with sumi and pigments. The characteristics of oni are: one or two horns on the top of the head, fangs of the tiger, wearing a loin cloth made of tiger skin and it is very mighty. It has a few holes in the upper blue part and some stains, however in good condition as a whole. Late 19th or early 20th century. 36cm x 285cm 14.2" x 7ft28" | |||||||||||||
