| This wonderful table model music box was made by the Swiss company, Paillard, in 1879. It is made of European hardwood, and laminated with inlaid linear designs, and an elaborately inlaid lid of a music and floral theme. It has brass handles on the box, and original wood casters on the table. The table has a storage drawer for 5 of the 6 cylinders. This music box uses brass cylinders, which hold the templates of the tunes. The box has a comb with teeth, which vibrate when they strike the pins on the cylinder as it turns. A zither attachment is an option which changes the resonance of the sound, making it "tinny". The box was cleaned and restored to working order in July 2005, and is in excellent condition. The table measures 43" X 26" X 30". The box measures 33" X 14.5" X 9.5". | ||
