| The Immigrant’s chest (ca. 1780-1820) is of oak and is in fine condition with all of the hardware intact. The twisted wrought iron handles and the ditty box which was used to hold candles which was their only source of lighting are in fine shape also. There is a molding that was placed around the bottom that is not original. It can be removed. Enclosed are pictures of the bottom from a couple of angles so one can see there is no damage on the bottom and that is one piece of hand-hewn wood. The piece is 49 1/2”w, 20” h, 19 3/4” d and the top piece is 5” high at the peak. | ||
