This Theodore Haviland cobalt game set, circa 1900, is just exquisite. The platter features a scene with mallard ducks swimming in a pond surrounded by beautiful green grasses. The water takes on shades of blue, green, yellow, and orange. Above, two birds fly in the sky, lit with gentle hues of purple, blue, and green. The sky is accented with small clouds. The plates bear six different scenes. The platter and plates are signed by the artist, J. Martin. The rims of the platter and plates are scalloped. In addition to the scalloping, they are gilt in gold. Within the gilt are scrolls and floral designs. The backs of the plates and platter are marked "Theo Haviland Limoges FRANCE". The platter measures 19" x 12 3/4" and the plates are 9" in diameter. The rim of the platter shows some loss of gold but the set is in very good condition.
