Pair of Minton fine porcelain vases, circa late 1800s-early 1900s. Estimated to be 13in high with the opening about 3 1/2in in diameter, the vase’s design of cupids is made by the Sèvres process "paté sur paté" (porcelain on porcelain). This technique used painted decoration in white clay slip instead of enamel before glazing, and Minton china was one of the only English makers to use this process in the nineteenth century. In the center of each vase is a large white porcelain cupid on a large butterfly while surrounding it are other smaller and similarly designed cupids with butterflies. The handles, neck, and base are ornamented with gold paint in a lustrous pattern. The porcelain and paint are in excellent condition, no visible cracks or chips. Sold as a pair. *Call our store to process order, Historic District Antiques 501-624-3370*
