| Proto Nasca, finely woven, camelid, multi-colored, zoomorphic textile. Birds bundled in nest make up the crown with tasseled handles. Very unique piece. Probably a child's toy or perhaps a shaman's/priest's icon. Bicolor alternating gold to red paneled design make up handles of extraordinarily intricate weaving. Beautiful, tiny birds and geometric elements alternate vertically on handles. The woven birds measure a mere .5 inches long, yet are of superbly complex design. Professionally mounted in shadow box on dark gold background. A truly beautiful and interesting piece. ca 0-200A.D. Length excluding tassels, 6 inches/15.2 cm. With tassels 12 inches/30.5 cm. Excellent condition. Acquired by descent pre 1970. Private New Jersey collection. | ||
