Chimu - Lambayeque Llama vessel
Chimu-Lambayeque Llama, bichrome, zoomorphic, anthropomorphic spouted stirrup vessel. Late intermediate, ca 700 A.D. - 1,200 A.D. Body boxed rectangularly. Llama depicted as beast of burden carrying a bundle on each side. Crosshatched rope securing each bundle. Left side bundle nippled. Harness evident in low relief on face. Human face protruding from back of llama above tail of Llama. Left ear missing, very slight chipping loss at top of spout, possible evidence of burnish under neck area, otherwise excellent condition. 8 inches/20.3cm tall. Acquired by descent. Private New Jersey collection.
