| Moche III Noble man with lime gourd. Ca 300 - 550 A.D. 7in/18cm tall. Spouted stirrup vessel, cream on chocolate base. Wearing a geometrically decorated poncho tied under chin and an ornate headband. The man appears to be sitting with front of feet protruding from beneath his poncho and his knees bulging in the front of the poncho. The Moche Man is apparently having a quid of coca and is supplementing it with powdered lime which is taken with the dipper held in his right hand from a bottle held in his left hand. The lime sweetens and potentiates the effect of the coca. Spout reattached, otherwise excellent condition. Acquired by descent pre 1967. | ||
