MOCHE IV PORTRAIT HEAD VESSEL 6.5 tall, 5.75 wide. Ca. 550 - 850 A.D. Private East Coast collection acquired prior to 1970. Obviously meant to be personal portrayal of actual individual such as Wrinkle Face. Light brown, incised moustache, cream ear spools, very defined nose, high relief eyebrows (right eyebrow raised expressively), slightly exaggeratedly open eyes. Incised vertical wrinkles in each cheek. Shortly caped Headband having upward facing painted spikes front top of band decreasing in size right to left and slightly rakish. Top opening approximately 3.5 inches. Evidence of fire clouding back right base of headdress. Excellent condition.
