Without question, one of the best and most well preserved black glazed bowls from the Jurchen Tartar Jin dynasty (A.D.1122- A.D.1215). The bowl has a perfectly painted flower with the pestles and stamens artistically rendered within its center, I have never seen one better than this in terms of its excellent condition and well painted features; a rich caramel striped band encircles the outer wall of the bowl, variations of profuse but subtle colors of green, black, caramel, and persimmon colors ensue. This is a true masterpiece of the potters art and is much better and superior to the ones currently being offered elsewhere; therefore this bowl will command a premium and the glaze effects can be compared with the illustrated example as shown from the Eumorfopoulos collection in the Victoria & Albert Museum as illustrated in Rose Kerr's book 'Song Dynasty Ceramics' pg. 83, plate 83. Both paste color and glaze effects corroborate. Size 10.5 cm diameter x 5.5 cm high (4.1” diameter x 2.25” high)
