Bonaventure Timaepatua (1928–1982), ochre on black fabric painting of a goanna who has a snake and boomerangs decorating its body. The background is a traditional design of the Tiwi people from the Bathurst Island in Northern Australia. Known as a sculpture and print maker, Timaepatua’s works are part of the permanent collection in the National Gallery of Australia. In very good condition with just a little paint loss, it measures 28 inches long, 12” high, and 2” deep. Purchased in Australia in 1966
