Hand carved from the highly desirable chicken blood stone, this small but exquisite sculpture is packed with symbolic meaning: The noble old man holds the legendary lingzhi in the form of a ruyi scepter, which means, "everything as you wish". A small boy is clutching onto the old man from the side with a playful glee of expression on his face, a food basket is located at the backside of the sculpture, but notice the peaceful serene expression on the old man's face. When the sculpture is taken in its full context, it means, 'peace, prosperity, wealth, and happiness'. The carving dates to the 19th century, late Qing Dynasty, and is excellent condition. The statue and stand measures 3” x 3”; the statue alone measure 2.5” x 2.5 inches. In excellent condition, no cracks, no chips, no scratches.
