Rare Early Shiwan Pomegranate Red Mud Man, Chinese

An extremely rare and old, circa between 1800-1850, Shiwan mud man with a pomegranate glaze with hints of green and blue speckled throughout. The glaze is a Jun glaze and is not the lead glaze of the later ones produced in the late 19th and early 20th century. This is a genuine rarity, due to the face having a clear glaze over it. The newer ones are left unglazed. The most unique feature, is the large thumb print left behind on the backside of his hand..., too difficult to photograph, but it is crystal clear and is a pleasing addition. What also does not pick up in the photos are the fine crinkles at the corner of the eyes and lines across the forehead. There is an invisible repair to the hat, but due the extreme rarity of the piece, it just won't affect the value that much. Measures 5.5" (14 cm) high.
