| A unique and profusely carved temple demon that was used as the upper portion of a support column. This Balinese artifact was designed to ward off evil spirits from the Buddhist temple complex; much like the Chinese concept of placing warriors or monsters as roof tiles to ward off evil spirits. The material is dense and has a beautiful and rich patina, most likely a teak-wood and dated to the 19th century. Difficult to find and now illegal to take from the country of origin.
