Two extremely rare painted animal headed Hu jars of the Western Han Dynasty (B.C. 206 - A.D. 24). About 95% of the original painted pigments remain in a remarkable state of preservation. This is not your typical pair of Han Hu jars as the majority of these are of the more common duck headed types; it is extremely rare to find the leopard type and unheard of to find the phoenix. The leopard measures 32 cm (12.75") high and the phoenix is 36 cm (14") high.
