| This is an old and rare New England corner chair in the William and Mary tradition with block and turned legs and ring and vase turned stretchers. The front leg ends in a spanish foot while the other feet are rounded and taper to a small disk at the bottom. The splats are probably a very early addition to the chair as they evidence an old green paint which is found on the rest of the chair. The splint seat is new. A similar chair is found in "300 Years of Seating Furniture", by Patricia Kane, page 96, figure 78. Height 31 1/2", width at arm terminals 28 3/4", seat height 16 5/8" | ||
