Cuthbert Bailey developed Crystalline Ware for Royal Doulton in 1904. He left in 1907, making this extremely rare. The Jackdaw of Rheims is one of the Ingoldsby Legends, a series of tales written by Richard Harris Barham in 1840. One of a number of fanciful characters created by Thomas Steele for THE SPECTATOR, a literary magazine first published in 1711, Sir Roger is depicted as the perfect country gentleman. He is shown at work and play, in love, as a good churchman and strong Tory. The series was in production from 1911 to 1949 and features 17 scenes.
