Here is a very elegant pair of Black Basalt Plaques, possibly by Wedgwood. They are mounted on board and I have not been able to get to the back to see what markings exist, if any. The one on the left depicts a hunter carrying a pair of wild boars slung over his shoulder. On the right a hunter wrestles with a lion. Good quality, in great condition, they measure 19cm x 14cm. There are 17 different scenes, this 10 piece part coffee set shows scene 1: Robin Hood, the friend of the poor, on 4 coffee cans and Maid Marion on 4 coffee saucers. The Royal Doulton Gnomes B Series was designed by Charles Noke who was inspired by Arthur Rackham’s illustrations for Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens Ca 1906. It was in production from 1927-1950. This part set comprises 26 pieces counting teapot & lid as one piece and 6 cup & saucer sets as 6 pieces. The set is in remarkably good condition with virtually no gilding loss and very minimal crazing – flaws noted in brackets. No restoration present.
