| The Jackdaw of Rheims is one of the Ingoldsby Legends, a series of tales written by Richard Harris Barham in 1840. It concerns a cheeky Jackdaw who steals the Cardinal's ring but returns it when he suffers from a curse put on the thief. He then becomes so pious he is canonised on his death. This series was in production from 1906 to 1930 (D2532, D6378, E3305). There are 16 different scenes. These 3 rare Vases have Ivy Wall borders. Scene 11, BUT NO! THEY CAN'T FIND THE RING! on the 11" vase and Scene 13, HE SOLEMNLY CURSED THAT RASCALLY THIEF on a pair of 9" vases. In bone china, with a border of Rosary Beads, we have a 4" milk jug (Sold) with Scene 13, and a matching 3" sugar bowl (Sold) with Scene 10, THE CARDINAL DREW OFF EACH PLUM COLOURED SHOE.
