Antique Japanese E-Seto (Pictured Seto ware) lantern dish ('Andon-zara') (also oil plate as 'Aburazara'), dates back to Late Edo period, 19th century.

Designed with rare motif of iron-glazed "Keman-mon" (traditional auspicious pattern of Shishi lion's curly hair) as a symbol of the sun, in fine antique condition as is with expected signs of use.

Aesthetic slack molding with lovely bold black sun, as unusual type.
