Original antique Japanese woodblock print by Utagawa Yoshikatsu, dated back to Kaei (1848-1854), Edo period,
showing the ironic scene of "Datsue-ba" hag who gives self-developmental 'Lunyu' allocution and the Edo people who pray and appreciate her as God.
Oban Tate-e type, (37.2 x 25cm / 14.6 x 9.8in), backing with paper, and nice mature color in fine antique condition with repair.
Recommendable as an unique early Japanese caricature of late Edo period, which is artistically influenced by the method of the Western composition.
