Genuine Chinese Ding-style bowl from Ming Dynasty, treasured in Japan as "Tori no Ko" (Lit. 'Child of Bird' - the color of chicken's eggshell suggesting a traditional Japanese color). Coated in 'chicken's eggshell' glaze with particular aesthetic crackle pattern, decorated with silver ring for the unglazed rim edge. Incised with abstract floral pattern at the inner surface. Fine antique condition as is with delicate Kintsugi gold restoration at the bottom rim. Obtained it attaching with an aged woodbox with damaged string, signed by Togetsusai (1865-1942), The 11th Master of Yabunouchi school of Tea ceremony (Yabunouchi-ryu), - as "Raozhou, Tea bowl / Name: 'Relaxing Moon', By Kio (a.k.a. Togetsusai)". The similar-type piece is owned as its treasure at Tsu Kannon temple (Enichizan Kannon temple), Tsu in Mie Prefecture, Japan. approx. 16cm in diameter, 6.6cm in height (6.3in, 2.6in) |
