Scarce sacred Japanese wooden Buddhist seated image of a noble 'Gyoja' (Mountain priest as the practitioner) of 'Shugendo' (Shinto-Buddhist combinatory sect that blends 'Kannabi' (original Japanese animism), Pre-Buddhist mountain worship, Shamanistic beliefs, Ascetic practices, Chinese Yin-Yang mysticism, and the Taoist magic.).
Still remained its original paint, inserted gyokugan (crystal eyes), tokin (gyoja's headgear), and shakujo stick with metal rings. Removable from wooden base. Antique condition with wears, peels, lacks, and a stick stuck through waist.
