A scarce early Japanese Mingei hawk sculpture of simple wood carving known as 'Sasano-Ittobori', so-called 'Otakapoppo' ("Hawk toy").
Belonging to the lucky-symbols ('Engi-mono') - that was actually sold from temple or shrine in Sasano in Yamagata province as its original provenance.
Fine antique condition with damaged wings as usual for this type.
