A small and beautifully aged wooden tray. This 'Itome-bon, meaning a fine thread like pattern, is hand carved and skillfully lacquered. A simple and traditional pattern like this has attracted people of numerous generations in Japan. The rim of the tray is orange-brown lacquer. The keyaki wood, zelkova, shows dynamic and elegant grain texture. It is a functional piece for serving such as tea or food, or can be used as a tasteful display tray. Ca. Mid 1900s. 10 3/4" diameter
