This very nostalgic Japanese indigo apron shows a Japanese Showa era famous character, Tecchan of Kanetetsu Food. Kanetetsu Food manufacture was founded about 80 year ago in Kobe, Japan and they make a variety of fish cakes (the Japanese web-site:www.kanetetsu.com) This child character was created 60 years ago by the company and it has been a popular figure ever since. Tecchan wears a cotton (blue and white polka dots) headband and has a signature smile on his face. The company just celebrated 60th anniversary for the character and this type of apron should be a collectible item among those who cherish the nostalgic mind behind it. This type of apron used to be distributed by the manufacture to employees of the wholesale and the retails to wear as advertisement. Unfortunately fewer and fewer of this type of aprons are seen nowadays. The apron is made from cotton with deep indigo color. It has the Kanetetsu logo, along with the face of Tecchan. At the bottom, it reads from the left to the right " Kanetetsu of Fish cakes" On the right, from the top to the bottom, " Real champion of the taste." There is a "hidden" pocket with a zipper on the top. Ca. Late Showa Era (1926-1989) Dimensions: 18" wide 28" long
