Shima (stripe) patterns are my personal favorite, traditional yet very vibrantly contemporary. This small futon-ji cover fabric shows a pattern of dark and light indigo stripes with a fine line kasuri pattern on it. The reverse side is made by solid indigo fabrics ( over the two third) and a strip of indigo fabric with elegantly subtle lines. As shown in an image, the partial section on the reverse side is opened for removing the interior material (a cotton pad). The condition of the textile is wonderful except one a few inch hole on the edge as shown in the last image and several tiny/minor holes. Ca. Late 1800 to Early 1900s. Dimensions: 38" x 60"
