Very handsome profile, having an approximately two inch foot below the tray surface. This one is originated from the old Aizu region, current Fukushima prefecture, traditionally renowned for 'Aizu-nuri' lacquer. The top tray area is lacquered in dark 'shu' Japanese "red" (rustic orange), while the rest of the tray is covered with rich black lacquer. The bottom interior is finished with dark brown stain. Aged with beauty, rustic element with fine scratches. A lovely Japanese Mingei folk art. Ca. Early to mid 1900s. 12 3/4" diameter 3 1/2' toll. Please inquire about shipping.
