We brought this beautiful Shino plate from our latest trip to Japan. It originally came out from the Mino region of Japan (contemporary Gifu area). The thick white Shino glaze covers unevenly, which has created an unique surface texture And the iron glaze was used to draw circle-like pattern on the outskirt while a simple pompous grass like motif in the center. The foot, 'kodai', is smooth and it indicates that the plate was well used over the time. It is estimated to be from the Meiji era (1986-1912). A tasteful piece. 7.5" diameter (not a perfect circle). 1" high. Please contact us for shipping.
